Over the past few years, the Angels’ farm system has gone from one of the worst to one of the best. Trout has noticed. GM Billy Eppler told me that often after games, while driving home, he will get a call or a text from Trout, who was scouring Angels minor league box scores and pointing out what he saw in them.

Also, Trout noticed that the Angels won a 30-team battle for Shohei Ohtani, and that one reason Ohtani picked the Angels was to play with Trout.
