Snoke himself[7] was created as one of the earliest attempts[14] to produce a viable, worthy vessel for Sidious' essence to inhabit in the event of his demise[6] and allow him to cheat death.[14]
Although Snoke was naturally sensitive to the Force,[14] and particularly strong with the dark side,[18] Sidious rejected his body as an "unworthy" form for containing his spirit. Nevertheless, Sidious found the usefulness Snoke's force-sensitivity could prove to have as a powerful servant and a way for spreading his influence across the galaxy through less direct means as he already was,[14] so instead, utilized him as a puppet in his sinister plans.[19]
