The night Maria Wong was stabbed to death in her garage, her husband was at work. But police believe he knew exactly what was about to happen to her.
That he hired four men to kill her. Five men are under arrest. "All parties were arrested on the charges of first degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder," says Detective Lester Brown of York Region Police
Maria Wong was well known to the Chinese community in Markham. She worked at a Chinese restaurant in Toronto. Police say her husband had a financial interest in her death but they would not elaborate. Johnny Wong moved to Hong Kong just a month after the murder.
"Mr. Wong was arrested at 10 am on August 31st at Hong Kong Time, which was August 30th our time," says Brown. He's being held pending an extradition application The four others worked for Wong - two of them as labourers, the other two as security guards at a restaurant - one of Mr. Wong investments. All four are known to police.
