" I would like to thank all of you who supported and helped me in so many places for the Chopin Competition. I am truly honored to have the opportunity to perform in this great competition with a distinguished history, and to share it with so many people. The jury members of this competition are musicians whom I respect so much, and I feel very honored to have been invited to perform for them. I sincerely support their decisions.
On the other hand, I am very disappointed and sorry that I was not able to reward you with the result you expected.

The acoustics of the hall were very difficult to get to understand for me. I finished the round without being able to find out where is the maximum volume. The control of the structure of dynamics and the range of tones was very out of balance. I was under the misimpression that my volume was not enough for the acoustics of the hall. There were moments when I drew an unartistic, saturated sound from the piano with quite unnatural force. And in a hall that doesn't resonate, if I delay the basses and the most important notes a little, the overtones can make them sound like they are fully sounded. I seem to have used this technique unconsciously a lot as I explored the acoustics of the hall.
(The left-right displacement is a typical technique of the 20th century, but not so appropriate for modern times. Of course, in polyphonic and recitative passages, the intonation of each voice is different, so the displacement should be tolerated as long as it sounds natural. Due to a lot of miscalculations, I ended up presenting the music in a very different way from what I had expected.)
