Leeds fans fume at Marcelo Bielsa plan for Kiko Casilla ahead of Barnsley clash
Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa has opened up on his plans for Kiko Casilla as the former Spain international’s eight-game ban comes to an end ahead of their clash against Barnsley on Thursday
Marcelo Bielsa is considering the future of Kiko Casilla at Leeds United.
The 33-year-old has completed his eight-game ban after being found guilty of racially abusing Charlton Athletic forward Jonathan Leko during the meeting between the two sides on September 28 2019.
"I do not feel at all that the guilty verdict is a clear reflection of the incident," Casilla after the verdict.
Leeds have performed well in the absence of the former Real Madrid stopper and sit six points clear of third position in the Championship with only three games to play.
However, Bielsa has not hinted that he could change the winning formula and bring Casilla back into the fold, which has been met with fierce criticism from supporters.
BBC Sport have reported, alongside the news that Ben White will move into midfield to replace the injured Kalvin Phillips, that Bielsa will speak to his players before announcing if Casilla will be involved later this week.
The former Argentina and Marseille boss also revealed that the stopper has been training with the squad throughout his ban after paying a £60,000 fine.
One fan said: “Casilla should be nowhere near our squad. Terrible terrible goalkeeper. Don't get me started on the Leko incident.”
