'In spite of + noun' means more or less the same as 'although + clause':

We went out in spite of the rain.
(= We went out although it was raining)

We understood him in spite of his accent.
(= We understood him although he had a strong accent.)

(ii)

'In spite of' is the opposite of 'because of'. Compare:

'She passed her exams in spite of her teacher.'
(she had a bad teacher)
(The meaning of the sentence is that the girl passed her exam although she had a bad teacher.)

vs

'She passed her exams because of her teacher.'
(She had a good teacher)
(it means that she passed the exam because of the help of her good teacher.)

(iii)

'In spite of' can be followed by an '-ing' form.

'In spite of having a headache I enjoyed the film.'
(it means that 'I' enjoyed the film although I had a headache.)

(iv)

'In spite of' CANNOT be followed directly by a 'that-clause'.
Instead, we can use 'in spite of the fact that'.

'He is good company, in spite of the fact that he talks all the time.'

note that 'although' means the same, and is more common.
In more formal English, 'despite' can be used in the same way as 'in spite of'.

Different uses of 'OF':

examples:

(i) 'belonging to'

- That's the laptop of him (= That's his laptop)

(ii) 'relating to' or 'connected with'

part of a movie -> The opening scene of the 'Shining' grabs the audiences attention.
part of a story -> The plot of the story was thrilling.
something in life -> What's the meaning of love?
people involved in some parties -> He is the chairperson of the organisation.

(iii) used to indicate reference:

I got married in the summer of 2000.
(the use of 'of' in this sentence is to tell the listener that 2000 was the year that 'I' got married)

This is a picture of my family.
The use of 'of' in this sentence is to tell the listener what kind of picture the one the speaker holding is.

I got a discount of 10 percent on the purchase.
(the use of 'of' in the sentence is to tell the percentage.

(iv) used to indicate an amount or number:

- 3 glasses of water
- a large number of people
- 5 hours of sleep

今年考嗰啲，唔好作出一啲唔係霎時可以做到嘅大改變。改變需時，要大改唔係依家先黎。唔係話你地冇得追。有，但係你地依家係要BASED ON你本身狀況去微調同繼續努力

首先，講一講我對B1，B2嘅睇法。

我B1 B2都做過。我唔記得邊份打邊份，總之接下來B1=易，B2=難。

講真我做B1唔覺得特別容易

，因為B1通常set死左你要係指定位置寫答案先啱，有時唔SURE就好煩，或者一子錯滿盤皆落索，要睇多兩眼。

反而B2即使唔sure位置，你乜都寫曬落去都會有POINT分。

另外，B1好多答案都係要自己聽返黎，即係你聽漏我就真係恭喜你啦 ‧ ‧ ‧ 反而B2好多野可以抄data file。我以前係學校做PP，好多做B1嘅人都係話一聽唔到少少野就仆街。

仲有，B1 我當你差唔多啱曬都係得lv 4 (仲未計你前面part A啱得多唔多喎)。我都淨係試過一兩次啱曬B1。其實B1唔係咁有著數。

所以我係推介個底本身唔係太差，predicted grade lv3左右聽野唔叻嘅人做嘅B2。而pg lv 4一定唔會做B1。
( why "lv3左右聽野唔叻嘅人"? - 聆聽內容一閃即逝，data file就唔會走佬。練讀寫一定易過練聽。你諗下唔好話英文，聽野慢嘅人係連中文聆聽都聽唔切架。)

Predicted grade: lv 1-2: B1

lv 2-3: 2018或之後嘅可以試練B2。

2017如果本身係做B2就繼續，研究MARKING，唔好浪費時間係咁聽係咁死做，你都唔識／唔明，做黎做咩？最重要係睇明左。同埋要練睇寫速度。2017本身做B1嘅我諗最好唔好轉B2。

Grammar係基本。content同文筆冇得教，睇你有幾八，有幾多資料，有幾高造詣。

一篇入面

1:用幾個Idioms
點解係幾個？一兩個驚條友眼殘睇唔到

2: 彈一句quote
等佢覺得你寫野convincing
Quote有引號，好難睇唔到，一句起兩句止好了，你唔係做梗referencing

3: 用啲少用嘅方式去表達
例如用idiom、深字之類
不過要用得啱
即係例如有啲adj好少用黎形容人、有啲字比較informal/formal

4: 每隔一陣用一次complex sentence structure
你識冇用架，要用佢先知你識
